Registering Ethel (the quad) for the road
After 5 weeks, at least 5 trips to the Vanuatu Customs and Inland Revenue Customs Office then a further 4 trips to the Department of Rates and Taxes Ethel is registered for the road. The reason for that many trips, several letters and much patience that Ethel had never been registered for the road. On Wheels Ltd the importer of Ethel (in 2011) was not able to locate the original import papers. Now Ethel's registration is completed, thank you to Sylvain from On Wheels Ltd for providing a letter explaining that they had no records from 2011 for Ethel, Johnny at the Customs Office for his patience with me, and helping in the process, and Mayline in Rates and Taxes for her assistance as well. And most importantly our Lord who has answered our prayers.
In the end the registration cost was not that much more that the fine if we had been caught by the police with Ethel on the road and no licence plate
The precious number plate,
Ethel not ready for the road
Ethel ready for the road.
