Around Port Vila
This morning after completing our grocery shopping Annette and I decided to go for a walk, and get some good exercise. We took some photos of sights around Vila
This building is one of the properties owned by the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu. It is leased by three local business men. The shop sells all sorts of general household goods, gardening equipment, chain saws etc. On the right of the photo is a roller door. There was an extension to the main building behind the door. But the extension was destroyed when Cyclone Pam came through Vanuatu in 2015
Is the footpath one of the narrowest concrete paths in the world? The road is the Lini Highway (the term highway is used rather generously). It is a very busy road, so care is needed when we are passing other pedestrians.
After lunch we rode Ethel down to the wharf to check out the HMNZS Canterbury. The navy are in Vanuatu delivering aid to the people of Ambae. The crew were on shore leave last night enjoying themselves in Vila, from what we have been told.
The loading ramp for the vehicles and heavy machinery being raised.
Port Vila can be seen on the far side of the harbour. The wharf is new, and the cruise boats moor on this wharf.
