The Pacific Hope - Medical Ship
The Men's Group for ICC church had a BBQ on board the ship Pacific Hope last night. Martyn and others got taken out by small boat to where she is moored out in Vila harbour and got the chance to have a tour. The Pacific Hope spends a few months of each year travelling around the Pacific bringing dental and eye teams to treat people in remote island communities. See the link for more info:

Also if you would like to support the Pacific Hope financially please do so. They rely mostly on donations to fund the ship. Everyone who travel on the ship pays for the privilege, that also includes the crew, volunteers and medical teams.
The Pacific Hope was originally a Japanese fishing boat, and the head room is quite low.. So all the engine plates, engine room, dials etc are in Japanese. The English translations have been put on the panels as well. The ship cruises at around 9 to 10 knots. Engine revs at this speed is around 270 rpm.

Multi-purpose clinic (currently drying room)
Engine room, a big 6 cylinder diesel . Uses compressed air to start the engine up.

Engine control room
Generators. There are two in the engine room, providing power to the ship.

It was a lovely warm evening for a BBQ out on the water - unlike back home at the moment.
