Container School
While out and about we discovered this group of containers and thought it might be temporary housing. But on closer inspection we found it is a school, all made from containers.
This is only about half the school. It is very neatly laid out, with lots of window holes cut in each container, but I hope they have put some insulation into them or they would be unbearably hot.
There is no grass, just bare dirt at this stage. I don't know if it is only temporary or intended to last a long time.
 These are the toilet blocks.
It is situated close to the airport, near Black Sands, a very poor part of Port Vila. Attending school is not compulsory in Vanuatu although it is encouraged, so some children don't even get  primary education. The government only funds education up to the end of our Intermediate level. After that children need to have parents who can afford the fees or get a scholarship if they are to continue with their education into secondary level.
