Vanuatu Trials Championship 30 September 2017

There are three Sherco trials bikes in Vanuatu , plus a Yamaha TY 350, in a state of repair  and not running. Terry  Moloney owns one of the Shercos.  He was keen to organise a trial, and I was keen to give him a hand along with Barry Bailey (a NZ based rider up here for a week,) We went out on Thursday to  scope out the farm that we were going to use for Saturdays trial.  We found a suitable part of the farm to set up the area we were going to use for the trial.  Saturday morning Terry, Barry and myself headed out to the farm to set up the sections to ride. We planned to start the trial at 1.00 pm. 8 riders turned up (including the three of us) we shared Terry's bike and Brett's bike

The weather was fine and hot, clear blue skies.

The final results were , the rider with the least points lost wins the trial.  We had two classes, the novice riders rode easier sections. DNF means the rider didn't finish the trial.

Points
Rider Bike Class TOTAL
Brett Davies Sherco Clubman 13
Martyn Vincent Sherco Clubman 14
Terry Moloney Sherco Clubman 30
Barry Bailey Sherco Clubman 45
Adam Sherco Novice 22
Michael McLennan Sherco Novice 26
BJ Sherco Novice DNF
Rod Sherco Novice DNF

The very first trials section in Vanuatu

The terrain was very dry , plenty of grippy rocks.

Me warming up before the trial, I know I should be wearing a crash helmet, and safety gear. Maybe next round i may get more gear

Michael Mclennan riding section one. He is a enduro rider trying trials for the first time. Michael leaves in Vanuatu, and has a photography business. I first met Michael through our church here the ICC.

Brett Harris purchased a new Sherco and is getting a liking to the trials game

Of course we need officials and especially observers to mark (score on penalties lost) the riders as they ride the sections. This is Janette Bailey .  The hand held up is telling the rider they lost two marks in the section

And at the end of the trial the results are announced

A final shot , I am at last wearing a helmet and riding through the section. I must admit I did like the Sherco, must mention that to Annette when she gets back to Terra Ferma. ............................
