We're Heading Back to Vanuatu

We are delighted to be returning to Vanuatu in February for 3 weeks. Annette has been asked to assist on another student intake of the Village Health Worker Course. So after prayerfull consideration, and discussions with Nicola Young and others we made the decsion to travel to Vanuatu.  Nicola Young will also be working on the course.

This has been a quickly developing assignment - we knew the course was coming up sometime soon but did not get the invitation to go till last Saturday. Annette is very much looking forward to working with Nicola and Elder Jara again and also this time Elder Cyrilline who will be the course administrator. Nicola will teaching one module, but we will mostly be equipping the local staff to run the course themselves.

A quick reminder of what the Village Health Worker Course is all about:
The Vanuatu Ministry of Health trains up volunteers who have a passion for the health of their community in basic First Aid, prevention of illness/injury through educating people about healthy living, and how to run an Aid Post - where people can go to get medical help/advice when they don't have access to a doctor or nurse. he course is 12 weeks long including 2 weeks practicum in an Aid Post.

Martyn is unsure at this stage what he will be doing and is in contact the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu (PCV) administration about how they can make good use of his time.

We look forward to catching up with friends in Vanuatu and brushing up on our Bislama.

We thank God for providing us with the opportunity to return to Vanuatu.

  1. Hello Annette and Martyn Vincent. I am a Pastor from Mumbai, India. I am glad to stop by your profile on the blogger and the blog post. I am also blessed and feel privileged and honoured to get connected with you and know about your interest in volunteering yourself in the ministry of community health care. I am so encouraged by going through your blog post and the traning Mrs. Annette is involved in. We do need such kind of training in India. The rural part as well as slums in the cities in India do need such community Health Care workers educating the people in the communities in basic Health Aid, prevention of illness/injury throgh educating people about healthy living and how to run an Aid post. I would love to know where such volunteers can come there to take training for three months and come back and start training volunteers in their communities or can such trainers like Annette and you come to trained such volunteers in Mumbai. I would love to know more about it. We do not have resources to get such trainers as well as for training such volunteers but with the help of your church we can involved in this noble work.
I love to get connected with the people of God around the globe to be encouragedm strengthened and praying for one another. I have been in the Pastoral ministry for last 40 yrs in this great city of MUMBAI a city with a great contrast where richest of rich and the poorest of poor live. We reach out to the poorest of poor with the love of Christ to bring healing to the brokenhearted. We aslo encourage young and the adults from the west to come to Mumbai to work with us during their vacation time. We would love to have young people come to Mumbai to work with us during their vacation time. Iam sure they will be having life changing experience. In the past we did receive teams of young people coming from New Zealand and Austrialia thruogh YWAM. Looking forward to hear from you very soon. God's richest blessings on you your family and friends also wishing you a very blessed and a Christcentered New year 2020. My email id is: dhwankhede(at)gmail(dot)com and my name is Diwakar Wankhede.
