Medical Sailing Ministries Mission 4 Update
30 September 2017
Mission 4 is winding down to a close. Only a few more days and they will be back in Vila, here are some photos of the last few days of the mission
This is the jetty at Sola, it has seen better days.
Sunset as they left Sola for an overnight sail to Port Olry on Santo. Annette had the Midnight to 3.00 am watch with a crew member and a nurse.
Bungalows at Sola Yacht Club, Not a club so much as a dossing down spot , very basic
Port Olry, Santo Island.
Bungalows built into a tree at Port Olry
The bathroom at the bungalow built around the tree
Small space at the old wharf in Luganville, Santo. The Chimere docked to fill up the on-board water tanks. (the water treatment plant on the Chimere was not operating , it had a high pressure leak in one of its hoses)
The wharf was very jagged, and not ship friendly
So the fenders were put out, and they did the job to protect the Chimere.
Anchored at Asanvari at the southern tip of Maewo Island looking towards Ambae Island and the smoke from the volcano can be seen
Asanvari a beautiful place
Traditional house in Asanvari

Some of the 29 people from Ambae Island on the Chimere on the way to Luganville. One or two did get seasick on the way. They don't know when they will return to their home island, or what they will find when they get there. Refugee camps have been setup on several islands, but they are having difficulty coping with the numbers arriving , over 10,000 people. Please include the islanders in your prayers. And help when you can with donations.
Back in Luganville again after leaving Asanvari. The Chimere sailed back to Luganville from Asanvari. The picked up 28 evacuees of Ambae Island and transported them back to Santo. the evacuees disembarked at Luganville.
