Entertainment at the Ramada
Here are a couple of videos from Friday night at the Ramada. According to Lonely Planet, string bands originated when Ni-Vanuatu saw and heard US soldiers playing blue grass while stationed here during WWII. They improvised their own instruments and created their own new sound.
The men are from the southern island of Futuna. Kastom (custom) dancing is still widely practiced in their traditional ceremonies, not just for tourists.
